Awardee Bios
Karen Anderson joined Alnylam in 2014 from Biogen Idec where she served as Vice President, Human Resources for R&D and Corporate Development. Prior to Biogen Idec, Karen was the Vice President of Human Resources, Commercial for Pfizer Inc. covering both Developed Markets and Emerging Markets. Earlier in her 10-year tenure with Pfizer, Karen supported Worldwide R&D. Before joining Pfizer, she spent 6 years at Baxter as the Global Human Resources Director for the Anesthesia & Critical Care Group. Her career as a human resources leader in the bio-pharma industry began in 1995, when she joined Bayer as Director of Compensation from her role as an Associate Consultant with the Hay Group. Karen received a Masters in Organizational Development from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She earned her Bachelor of Arts with honors in both Psychology and Labor Relations from York University in Toronto, Canada. Karen lives in Lexington with her husband Chris and their three sons.
Dr. Rosana Kapeller is Chief Scientific Officer of Nimbus and holds responsibility for advancing the company’s programs from discovery to early human proof-of-concept. She has spearheaded Nimbus’ pioneering experiment in virtual distributed drug discovery, an innovative and cost-effective approach to R&D and has been instrumental in bringing the company from a discovery platform to a product-focused therapeutic development platform. Rosana’s scientific vision and leadership contributed to the sale of the company’s lead program targeting ACC for NASH to Gilead for up to $1.2 billion. She brings to Nimbus over 20 years of leadership and start-up experience. As co-founder and Vice President of Research at Aileron Therapeutics, Rosana helped the company raise $60 million in venture funding. Before that, she spent nearly 10 years at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, where she rose to the role of Director of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. Over the course of her career, Rosana has been widely published and is named on 50 issued patents. She was recognized as one of the “Top 20 Women to Watch” by Mass High Tech in 2012, and was selected as the Rising Star Entrepreneur of 2016 by the New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA). Rosana earned her M.D. from Rio de Janeiro State University in Brazil and her Ph.D. from Tufts University Medical School. She conducted her postdoctoral research work at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she was named a David Abraham Fellow in Pediatric Oncology.
Biju Muduli, Director of Lifecycle Marketing at Carbonite, has over 13 years of experience marketing leading edge technology products. At Carbonite, she is responsible for setting the strategy and champion the execution of customer marketing programs, with the ultimate goal of driving revenue through direct and channel businesses. In the past 2 years, Biju has developed a holistic engagement strategy for prospects, trial users and customers at all points in the funnel focused on nurturing leads, onboarding new subscribers, engaging customers and increasing renewals. She has an excellent record of formulating and executing marketing strategy based on real metrics and business goals. Prior to Carbonite, Biju worked at Dassault Systèmes for 8 years where she held the position of Director, Global Demand Generation Center. At Dassault Systèmes, she was responsible for running an effective lead generation machine that delivers quality leads to all sales channels across all GEOs. She developed and deployed global marketing programs to simultaneously reach new customers as well as deepen account penetration within current install base. During leadership, she increased annual volume of qualified leads using both inbound and outbound campaigns, enabling sales to exceed revenue goal. In addition to her day job, Biju loves to speak at marketing events where she shares best practices and wins with fellow marketers. Last year, she spoke at MassTLC and Oracle Modern Marketing Experience events. Biju has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India.
Sabine Schilg is Vice President of Customer Success & Renewals in Carbonite leading the customer engagement for the next generation of business continuity solutions for small and midsized businesses, branded Safe, EVault and DoubleTake. Previously Sabine held the position of VP of Mergers & Acquisition Integrations in IBM Security. Through years of helping IBM succeed in areas of M&A, Product Management, Product Marketing, Marketing, Business Development as well as designing and transforming social and collaboration strategies for IBMs Top 100 accounts, Sabine has developed a unique vision on what is driving business success and growth in IBMs security business through successful integration of newly acquired companies that complement the organic security business. With Trusteer, Fiberlink, CrossIdeas, Lighthouse and Cybertap we expand our portfolio to new heights. In her previous role as CMO for the Software Group in Europe, she lead the marketing and communication efforts for IBMs leading software brands. In this role Sabine directed all aspects of marketing. Under her leadership, and using IBM's own predictive analytics technology, Sabine guided sellers (tele)marketing organizations and discusses with IBM partners what activities yield the best returns. Prior to this, Sabine led the integration of several social and analytics acquisitions including Cognos Europe, SPSS and Bowstreet. She has also held leadership positions in Product Management, Director of Software as a Service, Smart Card Solutions, Chip and Mainframe technologies and developed Go to Market and partnerships for IBM's collaboration technologies as well as Business Development of large OEM engagements. She holds a Master degree in Mathematics and a Business MBA.
Holly Whittemore is Senior Vice President, Finance & Operations at Nimbus and has more than 20 years of experience in accounting and finance. Prior to joining Nimbus, she was Director of Finance at Atlas Venture, where she worked with the U.S. and EU Operations Groups. Holly has held financial roles in various fields including publishing, energy and communications. She started her career at Coopers & Lybrand, where she spent seven years in the audit practice working with companies in the technology, manufacturing, international and not-for-profit sectors. Holly is a Certified Public Accountant. She received her B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
