WEST is hosting a panel of C-Suite women at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard for an event called: "Women, Innovation, & Disruptive Technologies."  Wendy Cebula, COO of EdX, Anna Protopapas, President at Takeda/Millennium and Deb Theobold, CEO at Vecna Technologies, Inc. will discuss innovation, disruptive technologies, and the role that women can play in promoting innovation and change. The discussion will be moderated by Erin Warren, SVP Marketing at Cartera Commerce, Inc.

Wendy Cebula
President and Chief Operating Officer, edX

Ms. Wendy Cebula currently serves as President and COO of edX. From 2000 – 2012 Ms. Cebula held a variety of executive positions at Vistaprint including Chief Operating Officer and President of Vistaprint’s North American business unit. Prior to joining Vistaprint, Ms. Cebula held the positions of Director, Retention Marketing and Analytics for MotherNature.com and worked in various database marketing capacities at financial services company Partners First. Ms. Cebula is a business advisor to multiple angel and venture backed companies. She also serves on the Board of The Commonwealth Institute.  Ms. Cebula earned a B.S. degree in Finance at Rochester Institute of Technology.

 

Anna Protopapas
President, Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company and Executive Vice President of Global Business Development, Takeda Pharmaceuticals

Ms. Anna Protopapas has been the President of Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since May 22, 2013 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Protopapas served as Executive Vice President, Global Business Development at Takeda Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. since June 24, 2011 and has been its Corporate Officer since June 24, 2011. Ms. Protopapas served as Corporate Officer at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited since June 24, 2011. She served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Member of the Leadership Team and Executive Officer at Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. since March 14,2005, January 2006 and January 2006 respectively. During her tenure at Millennium, Ms. Protopapas had been a key driver in forging partnerships that have generated significant revenue and value for Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc., including collaborations with Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals Research and Development L.L.C., Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Abbott Laboratories. She joined Millennium in 1997 with diverse experiences ranging from business development to international marketing and chemical manufacturing. Ms. Protopapas serves as Director of Ensemble Therapeutics Corporation (Formerly Ensemble Discovery Corporation). She holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Princeton University, a master's degree in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master's in business administration from Stanford University.

 

Deborah N. Theobald
Chief Executive Officer, Vecna Technologies, Inc.

Deborah N. Theobald serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vecna Technologies, Inc. Ms. Theobald co-founded Vecna Technologies in 1998 and served as its Chairwoman, President and Chief Executive Officer. She provides key strategic vision, executes tactical directives and designs next generation product solutions. She obtained her Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering with a concentration in robotics and human factors of space travel, including impact on human physiology and health maintenance. Her Master's thesis included testing of a custom built haptic robot-human interface in varying environments including NASA's KC-135 microgravity simulator plane (or Vomit Comet).

 

Erin Warren
Senior Vice President of Marketing, Cartera Commerce

Erin Warren is responsible for all marketing strategies to engage consumers through online shopping. Cross-channel strategies are predominantly focused on acquiring and engaging new shoppers through proprietary digital channels. Erin comes to Cartera Commerce with a background in digital media strategies, customer acquisition and retention strategies, brand strategy and marketing communications. Prior to Cartera Commerce, Erin was Chief Marketing Officer at CollegeWeekLive, Inc., the leading producer of virtual events for prospective college students world-wide. Earlier in her career, Erin was vice president of channel marketing for Sallie Mae where she led acquisition and cross-sell marketing for all Sallie Mae subsidiaries, including Upromise, Inc. Prior to Sallie Mae’s acquisition of Upromise, Erin was Vice President Member Acquisition at Upromise, Inc. A 2-time member of the United States Olympic Luge Team (’94 & ’98), Erin holds a BS from the Northeastern University and an MBA from Babson College.
